a practice in agency, curiosity, and joyful work
Nosework is one of the few structured activities that truly belongs to dogs.
It asks for focus without pressure, problem-solving without coercion, and engagement without constant direction. Done well, it builds confidence, communication, and independence - especially for dogs who need space to think, move, and choose for themselves.
I’m personally drawn to Nosework because it centers the dog as an active participant in the work. Dogs learn to trust their own information, regulate their arousal, and move through challenges with purpose rather than urgency. For many dogs, it becomes a place of genuine joy. I’ve learned so much more about applying trust, communication, and regulation to my work in and out of classes with the Dog Driven Search method led by Sue Sternberg and Dana Zinn.
In 2026, I’ll be pursuing certification through the Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI) program and will begin offering Introductory Nosework classes within the next six months. These classes will be designed for dogs of all backgrounds, with a strong emphasis on emotional safety, agency, and sustainable skill-building.
What to expect:
Beginner-friendly nosework foundations
Small class sizes
Dog-led problem solving
An emphasis on confidence, communication, and choice
This is not about titles or speed.
It’s about giving dogs meaningful work that supports who they are.
Introductory classes will be announced soon.
