Character Sheet

Session Zero: 06/18/2025

It was great working with you and Anthony in your first private session! He’s got a big personality and a lot of potential — thank you for taking the time to dig into his needs and set clear priorities moving forward. Here's a quick recap of what we covered and what to focus on next.

🐾 Session Summary

We reviewed Anthony’s main challenges, including:

  • Reactivity on leash

  • Stranger sensitivity

  • Intense prey drive

  • Settling in the house and overstimulation (also shows up in the car)

  • Jumping up and table surfing

  • Polite greetings

  • Integrating with your family dogs

Together, we decided to prioritize:
✅ Loose leash walking
✅ Settling in the house
✅ Smooth integration with family dogs

🎯 Key Strategies & Exercises

  • Walk Structure: Shift from three neighborhood walks to a blend of 1–2 focused training walks and 1–2 decompression walks (long-line, sniffy time, lower stimulation areas).

    • Check out long lines from both Palomine Lines (biothane - rubbery, smooth feel. Great durability, does get slippery when its wet) and these from Canis Callidus (grippy nylon - great grip, very durable, HURTS if it wraps around your leg)

  • Threshold Focus: Begin walks with engagement using Superbowls (our Stoplight game from class) to build attention at the door and set the tone of the walk.

  • Skill Building:

    • Introduce hand targeting — fun, simple, and great for engagement.

    • Start building value for his mat as a designated calm spot. Reward him for choosing to relax there, even for a few seconds at a time.

🛠️ Management & Support Options

To set Anthony (and you!) up for success, I recommend the Character Creation Package bundled with 1 month of Cast Guidance for $790.

This includes:

  • 4 in-person sessions (45 min)

  • Personalized client webpage with session notes & resources

  • Access to Guild Hall and client portal

  • Companion online course

  • 1 month of Cast Guidance: coaching, Q&A, video feedback, and more

You can continue Cast Guidance after the first month for $65/month if you’d like ongoing coaching support.

Let me know if you'd like to move forward with the bundle or have any questions. I’m here to help every step of the way.

Blank Spaces on the Map

I’m including this tracker as an option to note down green spaces you find and have Anthony behaves in them. This can be helpful in creating a library of good decompression spots and where Anthony seems to get the most fulfillment out of sniffing and exploring.

Today we focused on strategies to make outings less stressful and more successful for both you and Anthony.

Leaving the House & Walk Strategies

  • We practiced using a long line for more freedom while keeping safety in mind.

  • Before moving forward, play Find My Face to build attention and connection.

  • Use Ready, Get It! as a “ping-pong” game—toss a treat behind to reset him, then reward at your heel when he comes back into the reinforcement zone.

  • Remember: walks don’t need to be straight lines! Get creative with direction changes and use “This Way” to shift his focus smoothly. The goal is quality engagement and mental exercise, not distance traveled.

Indoor Skills

  • We worked on building a reliable down cue. Using the couch as a higher platform made it easier for Anthony to understand the movement. Reward small steps (first the front legs lowering, then the back legs) until he can settle fully into position.

  • For now, keep practicing “down” indoors only in safe, comfortable spots, rather than outside where he’s more vulnerable.

Overall Focus
Our big theme today was helping Anthony conserve energy by making walks about engagement and problem-solving instead of just covering ground. Indoors, we’re laying the foundation for calm positions that will support him later in more distracting spaces
